Online therapy for navigating anxiety, identity shifts, and emotional overwhelm during perimenopause
Are You Feeling Anxious, Overwhelmed or Depressed as You Navigate (Peri)menopause?
Overwhelmed by irritability or mood swings
Unable to sleep at night and exhausted all day.
Suffering from hot flashes and the changes happening to your skin and body
Betrayed by the medical system that seems ill-equipped to validate and manage your symptoms
Experiencing ageism or your own feelings about getting older.
Does it feel like everything has changed and suddenly you are…
As you transition into perimenopause, it’s common to feel as though your emotions and your body are changing in unpredictable ways. Perhaps you’re experiencing heightened anxiety, irritability, or feelings of sadness that seem to come and go without warning. You may feel as though your thoughts are spiraling, keeping you up at night, or making it hard to focus during the day.
For many, these emotional shifts are intensified by societal expectations around aging and beauty, making this phase feel even more challenging. You might feel a sense of urgency or anxiety about making the most of this stage in your life, yet at the same time, feel stuck or unsure of how to move forward.
These changes can feel isolating, confusing, and overwhelming. Nobody prepared you for this and you may find that your medical providers don’t take your symptoms seriously or are surprisingly uninformed about how to treat them. No wonder you feel so overwhelmed!

Narrative therapy helps you consider the stories you have been told by others and by yourself about aging. Let’s take a look at the way that beauty culture tricks us into equating our worth with our youth and appearance so we can heal the shame you feel about getting older.

Brainspotting is a form of somatic therapy that is used in treating symptoms of anxiety. Brainspotting helps you to process and heal from anxiety by reducing or relieving the symptoms of emotional distress that often emerge after overwhelming experiences. Brainspotting uses bilateral stimulation (engaging both sides of the brain) to allow you to process the memory where it is stored in your brain in a manner that is not debilitating.

While there are no guarantees, we take great care and intention in exploring how your feelings about aging are affecting your life from the internal to the external. Not only do we peel back layers of how fear and anxiety specifically manifest for you, we also work collaboratively to create tools that help you slow down and bring continued awareness to your experience and learn how to navigate your emotional states.

We meet weekly for 50 minute sessions via video. During our first few sessions, we'll get to know each other, make sure we're a good fit, and decide on some goals for working together. After that, I check in regularly to make sure we're working on issues that are important to you in ways that feel productive and safe. Questions and feedback are always welcome. Every once in a while you might get to see my lab mix, Roscoe, but that’s only if he feels camera ready.

I love therapy! But I’m not going to tell you that you NEED anxiety therapy for perimenopause. I will say most people who choose to go to therapy are happy with their decision, especially those who take the time to find the right therapist. If it turns out I am not the right fit for you, I can help you find someone who is.
